We hope everyone had a great Freshers and that you’re settling in to student life. Remember that however things are going the SU is here to help and support you throughout the academic year. We can also offer you lots of great ways to get more from student life through clubs, societies and more.
There’s another busy month ahead at the SU including campaign days, daytime events and fantastic evening entertainment. We also hope to see everyone at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 20th November which is an important opportunity to hear from us about our plans for the year ahead and have your say about how your SU is run.
It’s also not too early to think about running in our Student Officer and NUS Conference Rep Elections. Nominations don’t open until February 2019 but you can start planning your campaign and find out more through tees-su.org.uk/elections. You’re also welcome to drop elections@tees-su.org.uk a line to speak with us about them.

Thousands of students enjoyed our great selection of day and evening events from Sat, 15th to Sun, 30th September. We offered more options than ever through the day including freebies and offers from commercial partners, chances to get more from student life through clubs and societies and help and support with wellbeing and safety. There was also the chance to enjoy events with a range of external partners at discount rates including Project Escape, Lane 9 Bowling, District 23 Paintball and Tees Barrage International White Water Centre.
At night we offered live music from pop legends S Club Party, live comedy from Britain’s Got Talent sensation Robert White, an hilarious hypnotist show, club nights, bingo and more!

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place on 20th November this year, is one of the most important events of the year. It’s your chance to hear from your Student Officers about their plans for the year ahead and have your say about them.
You’ll also be asked to approve our affiliations, the way the 2019 elections will be run and will receive our 2017/18 accounts. In addition, whichever club and society each get the most members to attend can win £50 and there’s free pizza courtesy of Dominos Middlesbrough.

We’re a Students’ Union that’s committed to real world campaigns that make a difference for ALL students. Our Student Officers lead on campaigns covering housing, mental health and general wellbeing, acceptable behaviour and language on campus (Yes to Respect), safety, employability and more.
Throughout this semester the Officers will be out and about with SU on Tour giving you the chance to tell them about your student experience. President Activities Andrew Richardson has also recently launched his clean sport campaign which raises awareness of the dangers of drugs in sport. All three Student Officers recently marked World Mental Health Day and will be continuing their work in this area throughout the year.

Nightline is an overnight, confidential listening service for Teesside University students. We are still recruiting student volunteers to listen to callers or more widely to help us promote this important new service. The SU Shop (ground floor, SU Building) is open 8am to 7pm weekdays, 12pm to 7pm weekends with a great range of snacks, drinks, meal deals, stationery, course related materials and more! It’s also the only place on campus to buy official Teesside University merchandise!
Meal deals are just £3.49, You can get a 6th hot drink free for every 5 you purchase and there’s bargain offers every month of the academic year.
SU Student Support (SUSS) Advisers will be out and about with hall talks on student housing from Thursday 8th – Monday 19th November alongside pop up clinics throughout campus from 12th to 16th November, get info and support with all aspects of student housing whether it's a current or future issues.
Teesside is, generally speaking, a great place for students to live where you’ll find you’re made very welcome!
