How hard is it to campaign?
It's a lot easier than you might think and we have loads of resources to help you. Each candidate gets access to resources and advice to make posters and banners, you also get partnered with a staff member of the Union who will check in on you. Campaigning looks amazing on your CV as it shows you can manage yourself, a budget and some volunteers (Your Mates)
How Competitive is it?
Whilst we cant tell you the exact amount candidates it's important to remember that the average numbers of students applying for graduate jobs is 140! So there is a great chance of developing skills whilst you campaign as well as winning an amazing Graduate Job
What happens if I lose?
Losing candidates have gone on to do amazing things like running their own business, charities and one has even gone on to be a Minister!
What skills do I need?
Enthusiasm to make change for students, we will teach you the rest during your summer induction.
What does it mean to be a Trustee?
Elected Officers also become Trustees. Being a Trustee of the Students’ Union means taking responsibility for the organisation as a whole. Trustees sit on the Union’s Board and make sure it is well-run, financially sound and acting in the best interests of its members – you. They help set the long-term direction of the Union, check that staff are delivering on their plans, and ensure the Union follows charity law. It’s a strategic role focused on oversight and accountability, rather than day-to-day operations, and it plays a vital part in making sure your Union remains strong, independent and student-led.
