Key dates for potential candidates

  • Now until Feb 2019 - Find out more and plan your campaign! You can talk to key support staff and current Student Officers by e-mailing: elections@tees-su.org.uk
  • Nominations open - Mon, 25th Feb at 10am to Fri, 1st Mar at 5pm. Between these two dates you can download a nomination form, register online or pop in to the SU Building and pick up then return your official forms to enter the elections.
  • Candidates briefing/ photo call/ Hand in publicity (You MUST attend) - Fri, 1st Mar from 5.15pm in the SU Activities Lounge (1st floor, SU Building). Hear from the Deputy Returning Officer, get campaigning tips and get official candidate pictures taken. You'll also be asked to bring along your planned campaign publicity so that the Deputy RO can check it over and give you feedback. If you are unable to attend you will need to explain why to the Deputy Returning Officer.
  • Candidate videos filmed - Mon, 4th and Tue, 5th March. You'll agree a date, time and location on 1st Mar to film a simple 2 minute video with the SU which we'll share on social media and add to our website.   
  • Campaigning gets underway - Mon, 4th Mar at 9am to Tue, 12th March at 8pm. You and your campaigns team can start trying to persuade students to vote for you whether you speak to them in person or start your digital/ print campaign.
  • Meet The Candidates event (You MUST attend) - Thu, 7th Mar from 12pm to 3pm. The Terrace (1st floor, SU Building). Voters will hear from the candidates and put their questions. You'll also have the opportunity to deliver a short speech about why students should vote for you.If you are unable to attend you must explain why to the Deputy Returning Officer.
  • Voting open - Mon, 11th Mar from 10am to Tue, 12th Mar at 8pm (closed overnight)All eligible students can vote online for their preferred candidates.The voting system will close overnight and re-open on the Tuesday morning.
  • Voting closed/ Meet with Deputy Returning Officer - Tue, 12th Mar from 8pm. All candidates will be asked to attend a short meeting to discuss any issues from the elections and receive a briefing on how the results will be announced.
  • Results Party - Wed, 13th Mar from 8pm in The Terrace (1st floor, SU Building). Find out who has won the various elections, a night full of fun and drama guaranteed! Please come early and bring as many friends and family along as you can!
  • NUS National Conference - 8th to 11th Apr 2019. Anyone interested in representing Teesside Uni at the NUS National Conference must be available for these three days.
  • New Student Officer team take over - Jul 2018. Anyone elected as a Student Officer will officially take office the first Monday in July unless you make different arrangements with CEO Jon Berg.
